Graduation Requirements/State Testing

There are three requirements to graduate from Stebbins High School:

  •  Credits / End of Course Exams (Basics)
  •  Competency
  •  Seals (Readiness)

Credits (Basics)

Students must earn 21 credits to graduate from Stebbins High School.  Within the 21 credits, student must take a certain number of credits in a subject area (see chart below)

Students are able to opt out of the P.E. requirement with P.E. Option.  A student can earn P.E. Option by doing one of the three options:

  1.     Play two seasons of a sport (student can play a different sport for each season)
  2.     Earn two credits in ROTC
  3.     Participate in two years of marching band 

Students will be retained in their grade level if they do not meet the following credit requirements:

  •     5 credits to become a sophomore
  •   10 credits to become a junior
  •   15 credits to become a senior
  •    21 credits to graduate with a high school diploma

End of Course Exams (Basics)

                It is a state requirement that students take the End of Course (EOC) Exams in six subject areas: English Language Arts II, Algebra I, Geometry, American History, American Government, and Biology.  Students take the EOC Exams at the end of the year in which they take the course. The tests are used to fulfill other graduation requirements.

Competency               To meet competency, a student must get a score of 684 on both the English Language II and Algebra I EOC exams.  If a student does not get the required score, they must test a second time before being able to use an alternative pathway.  See Chart below for alternative pathways.

 

Seal (Readiness)

            Students must earn two seals in order to graduate.  One seal must be state defined seal.  Seals and requirements are on the chart below.
